[Geral] NCSU and CIAFEL cooperation | ||
CIAFEL and North Carolina State University (NCSU) have been working together by evolving and improving both iSOFIT and iSOPARC apps for the last 3 years. This cooperation have been covered by the consultancy of Thomas L. McKenzie helping both entities to achieve compliance with the original protocols (System for Observing Fitness Instruction Time and System for Observing Play and Active Recreation in Communities) while adapting it to its new digital scheme. These tools developed internally by CIAFEL were coordinated by Prof. Maria Paula Santos and are today considered pieces of innovation by leveraging traditional systematic observation and data analysis. For that reason iSOPARC was the main tool used for observation and data analysis in a big scale project for 2 years in 2014 and now iSOFIT has an ongoing project in the same institution funded by "The Aspen Institute". In 2014, NCSU has kicked off North Carolina Community Transformation Grant Project with the goal to create healthier communities by making healthy living easier and more affordable to where people work, live, and play. The primary intention of the project was to determine the Shared Use Agreements (SUA) impact on physical activity across NC and identify strategies for expanding SUAs to improve overall community health. Moreover, in August 2017, NCSU proposed a new cooperation with CIAFEL for at least 1 year, for adding new features and technical support for iSOFIT, since it is the tool adopted to assess the relative health benefits and risks in the community. The project called "Project Play - Healthy Sport Index" will collect the best available information on the health impacts of 10 of the sports most commonly played by adolescents. Original research will inform the evaluations, supplemented by scientific surveys and reasoned analysis where appropriate. Criteria will be shaped and refined by a blue-ribbon advisory committee of researchers, doctors and other experts.
